How to play
Tap the buttons under the screen, or use a keyboard or a gamepad. Pick replies with the d-pad and A; in a kana quiz, press the d-pad toward the missing kana.

About the game
Kananeko follows you through five places in town: the station, a street, a ramen counter, a convenience store, and an evening park. Everyone you meet speaks Japanese in kana; pick the friendly reply. After each conversation, a short quiz asks about the words you just read, and the day ends with a speed round.
It's a real Game Boy Color ROM, assembled entirely from TypeScript. Download the ROM to play it in any emulator, or read the source on GitHub.
